DURING THE PERIOD OF SEPTEMBER 3RD-10TH, AN IMF MISSION WILL EXAMINE, IN CHISINAU, THE BUDGET LAW DRAFT FOR THE YEAR 2002

During the period of September 3rd-10th of the current year, a mission of
the International Monetary Fund will pay a work visit to Chisinau and in
common with the responsibles from the frames of the Moldovan Government to
examine the Budget Law Project for the year 2002, minister of Finances,
Mihai Manoli, declared for AP FLUX.

According to Manoli, the day when the visit will be made was determined by
director of the Europe II Department of the International Monetary Fund,
Richard Haas, at the sitting that they had in the frames of the recent visit
of the Moldovan minister to the USA.

Mihai Manoli revealed that the discussions with the IMF representatives
will especially regard the problem of the Republic of Moldova honoring,
during the next year, the commitments to the exterior creditors, "in the
case if the debt that follows to be paid outruns a half from the yearly
budget".

There will be also examined the maters that regard the fiscal policy
reforms from the Republic of Moldova, also the possibilities to reduce the
quota of the income taxes for legal entities.

Mihai Manoli stated that the Minister of Finances finished, practical, the
negotiations on the Budget Law draft for the year 2002 with the ministries,
departments and bodies of local public administration, and on September 1st,
the project follows to be presented to the Government's examination.
Ministry of Finances refused to name the basic indicators planed in this
project, mentioning only that "it is too early", AP FLUX informs.
