Prime-minister Iurie Leancă met with Menno Snel,
IMF's Executive Director for Moldova
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca today met International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Director for Moldova Menno Snel.
The officials reviewed subjects on the cooperation agenda between Moldova and the IMF, including aspects on negotiations for a new assistance programme of the Fund for Moldova.
Menno Snel highly appreciated Moldova’s economic performance in the past three years. He expressed confidence that the current IMF mission in Moldova, along with the dialogue partners from the country, would find solutions to all present problems, so that a mutually advantageous cooperation memorandum be signed in the nearest future.
The prime minister said Moldova needed such an agreement with the IMF and advocated development of a sustainable partnership with the Fund.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca referred to measures taken to ensure financial stability of Moldova, create a friendly investment climate for agricultural development and enhance competitiveness of the national economy, in the context of preparing for signing the Free Trade Agreement with the EU, in order to turn to account opportunities offered by the free trade regime with the European Union.
