IMF will support
the Republic of Moldova in Managing the Refugee Crisis
The refugee crisis management
and the support needed by the Republic of Moldova to mitigate its
humanitarian and economic impact were discussed today at the meeting of
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and the team of the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Ruben Atoyan.
The Prime Minister talked
about the challenges faced by our country in the context of providing
humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainians refugees, stating that it is
only by joint effort of external partners that the crisis would be
overcome successfully. The parties also discussed the economic impact of
the war in Ukraine and the Government’s action to redirect trade swiftly
and ensure food security. For a week, the IMF staff will assess the
implementation of the economic reform program supported by the IMF
through ECF/EFF arrangements, as well as additional financing needs in
the light of the current macroeconomic context.
