Discussions held were focused on the aspects of collaboration between
the Government of Moldova and the International Monetary Fund, including
in the the context of efficient implementation of measures listed in the
Memorandum of collaboration. Johan Mathisen appreciated the relations
of collaboration between the IMF and the Government, saying that they
are excellent. The IMF Representative informed that the IMF's Executive
Board supports the Government's actions for economic growth, mentioning
that at the IMF Executive Board meeting Mr. Takatoshi Kato, Deputy
Managing Director and Acting Chair, noted that Moldova's economic
performance has been encouraging, despite a series of shocks, and the
authorities' reform efforts and balanced policies have helped maintain
macroeconomic stability.
In the view of the IMF official, investments into Moldova have
started to replace remittances, as the main factor for stimulating the
economic growth, and this is an encouraging trend.
Mr. Mathisen has also informed that the next IMF mission will visit
Moldova during 7-21 May2008.
The Prime Minister appreciated the IMF's constructive stance in
relations with the Government of Moldova. Vasile Tarlev specified that
the Government is interested in a good cooperation with international
financial organizations. In this context, the Premier pleadedfor an
efficient and constructive cooperation with IMF in all areas of mutual
interest. |
