Resident Representative
Chisinau, Republic of Moldova
PRESS STATEMENT
IMF Technical
Assistance Mission
Concludes Its Work
on
June 15
Mr. Eivind Tandberg, IMF Public Financial Management Advisor based at the Center
of Excellence in Finance (CEF), worked in Chisinau during June 11-15, 2007.
The primary goal of the mission was to review progress in the completion of
the new budget classification and in the preparations for including the Social
Fund and the Health Insurance Corporation in the treasury single account from
2008. He also discussed plans for coordination between the budget process and
the National Development Plan for 2008 – 2011. The mission found that the
Moldovan authorities have continued to implement public financial management
reforms very effectively and that the National Development Plan process provides
an important window of opportunity for reconciling and integrating the strategic
planning and medium-term budget processes.
Mr. Tandberg met with the First Deputy Prime Minister, the management and
staff of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the Social
Fund, the Health Fund, and the World Bank.
Mr. Tandberg will report his findings and recommendations to the IMF
management, which will, in turn, share them with the authorities and other
relevant parties. The summary of the final aide-memoire will be posted on the
CEF website
(http://www.cef-see.org), and will be made
available to interested parties at their request.
