A working mission of
the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by
Mr. Graeme Justice visited Chişinău during February 12-14, 2009.
The mission
discussed with the authorities recent macroeconomic developments in the
region and appropriate policy responses. Economic performance in 2008 was
positive. The weaker outlook for the region will inevitably have an impact
on the Moldovan economy, and discussions focused on how to minimize the
impact on growth and mitigate the social consequences for the population.
The IMF stands ready to assist Moldova together with the international
community to help address these challenges.
