Mr. Ruben Atoyan, the IMF mission chief for Moldova, made the following statement: 

“We take note of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's indictment against Victoriabank and the recent court authorization to seize its assets in connection with the 2014 bank fraud investigation. It is critical to achieve tangible progress recovering assets from the 2014 bank fraud through an independent and comprehensive investigation and prosecution.

Following the 2014 fraud, several important reforms have been taken to clean up and modernize Moldova’s banking sector, including Banca Transilvania’s entry into Victoriabank, in strategic partnership with the EBRD, which has been a major milestone. Hard-earned progress in this area should be protected.

The IMF will be closely monitoring developments in this area, particularly with regards to potential implications for a new Fund-supported program, which will focus on strengthening rule of law. We stand ready to support the continuation of the reform process in Moldova.”

DECLARAȚIE PENTRU PRESĂ 

Dl Ruben Atoyan, șeful misiunii FMI (negociatorul principal) pentru Moldova, a făcut următoarea declaraţie: 

"Am luat notă de rechizitoriul Procuraturii Anticorupție asupra Victoriabank și de decizia recentă a instanței de judecată de aplicare a sechestrului pe activele băncii în legătură cu ancheta fraudei bancare din 2014. Atingerea unui progres real în recuperarea activelor sustrase în urma fraudei bancare din 2014 printr-o anchetă și urmărire penală independentă și cuprinzătoare este de o importanță critică.

După frauda din 2014 au fost implementate mai multe reforme importante pentru curățarea și modernizarea sectorului bancar din Republica Moldova, una din ele fiind intrarea băncii "Transilvania" în "Victoriabank", în parteneriat strategic cu BERD, fapt care poate fi calificat ca un reper de mare importanță. Progresele realizate cu eforturi mari în acest domeniu trebuie protejate.

FMI va urmări îndeaproape evoluțiile din acest domeniu, în special în ceea ce privește implicațiile potențiale pentru noul program susținut de FMI, care se concentrează pe consolidarea statului de drept. Suntem gata să susținem continuarea reformelor din Republica Moldova."

Г-н Рубен Атоян (Ruben Atoyan), глава миссии МВФ, сделал следующее заявление: 

"Мы приняли к сведению обвинительное заключение прокуратуры по борьбе с коррупцией против " Victoriabank " и недавнее решение суда наложить арест на его активы в связи с расследованием банковского мошенничества 2014 года. Чрезвычайно важно добиться ощутимого прогресса в возвращении активов, украденных вследствие банковского мошенничества 2014 года, посредством независимого и всестороннего расследования и судебного преследования.

После мошенничества 2014 года было проведено несколько важных реформ с целью очистки и модернизации банковского сектора Молдовы, включая приход инвестора "Banca Transilvania" в "Victoriabank" в рамках стратегического партнерства с ЕБРР, что стало знаменательным достижением. С трудом достигнутые достижения в этой области должны быть защищены.

МВФ будет внимательно следить за развитием событий в этой области, особенно в отношении потенциальных последствий для новой программы, поддерживаемой Фондом, которая направлена на укрепление верховенства закона. Мы готовы поддерживать продолжение реформ в Республике Молдова."
