IMF mission provides assistance to Moldova's
tax authority
During December 2-13, an IMF mission (Allan Jensen and Frank Bosch) pays a
working visit to the Main State Tax Inspectorate (STI), providing technical
assistance in on tax matters.
Mission's goal is to analyze the expectations, priorities, and problems in tax
administration.
On the first day, the IMF mission met with STI management, and the latter
outlined the current situation in the field of tax administration, main points
being: the development plan and priorities in tax administration, tax payers'
compliance, STI's organizational structure, staffing, etc. They analyzed the
efforts and the results of tax collection, the impact of lower economic activity
on the tax collection, efforts made for STI modernization, as well as
cooperation with other tax administration agencies. It was also mentioned about
the assistance received by STI from donors.
Within the next days it will be presented to the mission the Development Plan of
State Tax Service for 2011-2015 and the Program of Taxpayers' Compliance for
2011. Discussions will follow about the need of specific adjustments to the
current situation and the ways of its implementation, including the needs for
technical assistance.
Apart from that, mission's
agenda will also include the analysis of the "Program of Ensuring the Tax
Collection for 2011: contents, adjustments, effects".
