The management of the energy and refugee crises discussed at the meeting of Speaker Igor Grosu with the IMF team

The management of the refugee crisis and of the energy crisis, the assistance the Republic of Moldova needs were discussed at the meeting of Speaker Igor Grosu and the mission team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Ruben Atoyan.

The meeting was also attended by Olesea Stamate, Chair of the Committee for Legal Issue, Appointment and Immunities.

The Speaker said during his discussion with the IMF team that the refugee crisis had overlapped with a number of other crises faced by our country. “Our goal is to stand by our people’s side’, stressed the Speaker in this context.

The parties agreed that the Republic of Moldova needs a contingency plan to manage to respond to the multiple crises. Igor Grosu expressed confidence that together with the development partners solutions to overcome the crises will be identified.

‘Our legislative agenda that is strongly supported by the people is going to be implemented. During these difficult times, we are aware how important it is to have well-functioning institutions,’ stated the Speaker.

For a week, the IMF team has been assessing the impact of war in Ukraine on the Republic of Moldova and has worked on identifying solutions for supporting our country.
