IMF’s Executive
Board Approves Increase of Loan for Moldova Under PRGF and US$ 48.2 Million
Disbursement
Johan Mathisen, Resident Representative of the International
Monetary Fund to Moldova made the following statement on December 15, 2006:
“The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today
approved an increase
in the size of the loan to about US$167 million from
US$121 million over three years under the Poverty
Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF).
The second disbursement was approved for an amount equivalent to about US$ 48.2
million (SDR 31.97 million) for Moldova”.
The PRGF is the IMF's concessional facility for low income
countries. PRGF loans carry an annual interest rate of 0.5 percent, and are
repayable over 10 years with a 5.5-year grace period on principal payments.
