IMF’s Executive Board Approves Increase of Loan for Moldova Under PRGF and US$ 48.2 Million Disbursement

Johan Mathisen, Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund to Moldova made the following statement on December 15, 2006:

“The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today approved an increase in the size of the loan to about US$167 million from US$121 million over three years under the Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF). The second disbursement was approved for an amount equivalent to about US$ 48.2 million (SDR 31.97 million) for Moldova”.

The PRGF is the IMF's concessional facility for low income countries. PRGF loans carry an annual interest rate of 0.5 percent, and are repayable over 10 years with a 5.5-year grace period on principal payments.

Documents associated with the review of the PRGF arrangement will be published shortly.
